I just love nautical designs and this summer I choose this design because it was part nautical and the other part summer. However, when I started this design in June, I noticed the hand-painted fabric was not as dark as previously stock, but decided to stitch anyway figuring the colors of the design would bring out the water. Guess what, it did not. So, when I was almost done, I decided to start all over again. It was suppose to be on a dark grey/black background, but it did not look summer enough for me - so I decided to use my favorite Sand, Sea, and Sky fabric from Fabric Flair and I used the recommended floss and buttons. Fabric Flair replaced the light fabric as you could not see the water, it blended with the sky. This design would look great over a sofa as it is not small when finished. I custom framed in a barnwood style frame. As I tell everyone, it was not hard, and is one of my favorites. This model will adorn our shop window next summer for all to see
