JUNE, 2026

       Hooray! Our weather here in PA is finally seasonal with an 80 degree day. Hopefully no more of those 50 and 60 degree days and freezing nights. Even the flowers are perking up and in bloom. Spring has arrive with Summer close behind.

       This year marks the 250th Birthday of our Country, and the designers have been working overtime releasing patterns from a scene of with Signing the Declaration of Independence to others with Flags and Eagles, just to name a few. Many designers have released more than on pattern to honor the celebration. With Philadelphia being the epicenter of this year-long celebrations where you can visit historic sites, museums, and free concerts as well as being a major host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, many of you might be visiting PA this year.

What you might not know is that my town, Bristol, is only 1/2 hour from center city Phila by Rt. 95. So if you are visiting the area taking part in this historic time, we would love you to stop by for a visit.

       On to business - we recently lost a wonderful designer - Nurdan Kanber, who along with her twin sister Nursun, designed the Twin Peak Primitive patterns. Our deepest condolences go out to her sister and family as she will be missed by in needlework community.

       Industry news updates - Nothing has changed. Kreinik is still taking much longer than we like to receive restocks due to equipment and supply issues. Mill Hill is still experiencing supply issue with some bead colors and perforated paper. Zweigart has cut back on manufacturing base fabric used for hand-dying and instead will be producing more canvas now that Needlepoint is on the rise. We always stocked all Zweigart and Wichelt fabrics and still do. As a color sells out, we immediately re-order. Recently we have noticed some colors being discontinued, while some colors coming back. We update our site as we are notified by our suppliers. Many of these issues were caused by so many people hand-dying fabrics that Zweigart eliminated the slow sellers in order to make base. That might be changing now. Only time will tell. Both fabric companies offer a large array of colors in all counts. Take a look - you might be surprised at all the beautiful colors. Also,

Liz Mathews has taken over Carriage House Samplings since her aunt retired and has started to release many patterns that were no longer available or some time. Many will contain two patterns, one being updated by Liz. So if you have looking for a Carriage House pattern to no avail, sit tight as all will be coming back. We are stitchers and have a stash - so wait for what you want, don't accept second best. Remember this time of year many designers get slow in sending in restocks due to family matters, graduations, and vacations. We order from many designers directly - most do not give us a phone number, we have to e-mail in our orders. If they do not notice the order, we get nothing, and after 5 days of not hearing anything, we e-mail again. This is what happens when we answer your e-mail questions and when we send a confirmation or tracking. Always, always, check your spam folder. I do and everyone should do that. I have no idea why respondences go into spam, but many do. This will eliminate your being left out of the loop.
