This fabric is 100% Permin linen and each piece is hand-painted. Each piece is washed in detergent to remove sizing, soaked in an activator to better take the dye, then laid out flat and painted, blending several colors to achieve the mottling. The fabric is cured for 24 to 48 hours, then it is washed seeral times in hot water and detergent to remove access dye, making it colorfast. Due to the hand painting colors vary from piece to piece - some could be lighter, and some darker. No two pieces will ever be alike
